Chelsea’s resident movie/TV/stage star Jeff Daniels is having quite a year: he won an Emmy Award for “The Newsroom”; he’s recently been filming (with co-star Jim Carrey) the much-anticipated sequel to his 1994 film comedy “Dumb and Dumber”; a revival of Daniels’ play “The Vast Difference” has been extended at the Purple Rose Theatre until December 21; and now, another play he wrote, “The Meaning of Almost Everything” – which had its world premiere at Daniels’ Purple Rose Theatre in Chelsea – has been nominated for the American Theatre Critics Association’s annual ATCA/Steinberg New Play Award, which annually recognizes new scripts produced outside of New York City.
